While the vast majority of purchases still take place in-store, the retail landscape is in transition with the closure of 1000s of brick and mortar locations and the growth of Amazon Prime.

More consumers are clearly diversifying their shopping. According to a new study, 54% of consumer prefer to shop in a physical store, while 46% prefer other, non-traditional methods of shopping (33% desktop, 8% mobile, 4% app, 1% voice-controlled device).

When comparing this preference with actual shopping behavior, the study found that 59% of consumers shop in-store at least once a week and 29% shop online weekly.

The data comes from the Walker Sands report titled, “Future of Retail 2017,” which surveyed 1,622 U.S. consumers. To access the graphic above, click here.
